Justice, Cross-Disciplinary Scholarship, and the Place of Christian Thought in the Research University.
GFI Faculty Regional Symposium
A half-day regional symposium in partnership with Chesterton House at Cornell University.

About the gathering
Chesterton House and GFI hosted a half-day regional symposium, introducing faculty and graduate students from regional universities, including Cornell University and SUNY, among others to GFI’s work. The program included presentations on GFI and Nicholas Wolterstorff’s Justice and Rights, faculty reflections on the value of the GFI series, and a discussion over fellowship and lunch.
How the Day Unfolded
- Session 1: GFI, Chesterton House, and Dialogues on Faith and Scholarship — Presentations from leading faculty on equipping busy scholars with Christian thought and on Wolterstorff’s view of justice. Additional scholars followed with short reflections on medical practice and on taking justice deep into the field of statistics.
- Session 2: GFI in Action: Cross-Disciplinary Encounters with the Theology of Justice and Rights — Three participants in the 2025/2026 Cornell workshops presented on the ways the dialogue intersects with their academic research.
- Session 3: Roundtables Imagining Scholarly Circles in Western New York Universities — The symposium was closed with a discussion on expanding GFI’s presence to other campuses and deepening its presence at Cornell.
